  • Mundorf's L series uses a 99.99% solid OFC round copper conductor, specially developed for high quality filtering. The winding stand is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. The L-series coil is the standard for quality passive filtering.

The ideal base material for coils is air. Air coils are physically superior to all core coils when it comes to accurate pulse reproduction and freedom from distortion. They can be used in all frequency domains; either as a high pass filter in the mid frequency range, as a bass coil (with a large conductor cross section) or in correction components (with a thin wire cross section).

Precision, dynamics, subtle tonal gradations, detail and liveliness set the air coils apart from all others. In high-quality loudspeakers, they are thus the basis for realistic and harmonious musical enjoyment.

The weak point of the air coil is its induced vibration, especially when filtering at low frequencies, which can project the signal into the speaker. The acoustic properties of the L series can be significantly improved by applying a stabilization treatment (see BL and VL series).
