The 15NLW9500 is an extended low frequency loudspeaker which sets a new industry standard in 15" (380mm) neodymium 4" voice coil high performance transducers. The 15NLW9500 has remarkable 35Hz downwards extension with 96dB average sensitivity and achievable peak power levels of 7kW. Extensive care has been taken in order to symmetries both mechanical and electromagnetic non linear behaviour. The transducer has been designed to cover the low frequency band in vented, bandpass and horn loaded configurations: the application range moves from studio monitors up to cinema subwoofers as well as professional sound reinforcing systems, where deep low frequencies are required. It can be used in enclosures from 90 liters in size upwards, with tuning frequencies of about 33Hz. Amplifier sizes of 700 to 1400W allow a maximum output from the loudspeaker with no risks for the speaker when properly used. The neo magnet assembly assures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange. This results in high levels of force factor and power handling with an optimum power to weight ratio. The heatsink has been specifically studied using F.E.A. simulators and the necessary heat transfer to the dissipative structure has been improved. The heatsink concept has been further improved by using an air-diffractor that offers high thermal capacity and has been designed to force air moved by the dust cap through the fins and cool it down. The direct contact between the heatsink and the basket, together with the magnetic structure, represents a fundamental improvement in heat dissipation, increasing power handling capabilities and lowering the power compression figure. The carbon fiber reinforced, straight-sided ribbed cone has been adopted in order to enable the transducer to withstand high loading designs as well as high power peaks. Maximum strength, smooth response and high displacement piston motion have been obtained using Double Silicon Spider technology (DSS) and a large excursion surround. The rubber suspension system has been designed to provide symmetric large signal behaviour throughout the whole working range, providing low harmonic distortion at different excitation levels.

The 15W500 is a fine example of a high quality transducer providing the right balance between performance and engineering costs. This ferrite low frequency driver satisfies the demand for a 15" loudspeaker which combines excellent linearity with good sensitivity and power handling characteristics. The 15W500 has been designed for two-way or multi-way reflex systems. The high quality paper cone has a smooth, Eighteen Sound specified curvilinear textured profile design that eliminates bell-mode resonance within the intended frequency range. The cone is carried by a specially treated and dampened multi-roll linen suspension designed to control excursion while maintaining piston action linearity. The 15W500 also employs our Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) technology, in which a high strength fiberglas former carries windings on both the outer and inner surfaces to achieve a mass balanced coil. This results in an extremely linear motor assembly with a reduced tendency for eccentric behavior when driven hard. Voice coil cooling has been achieved by incorporating airways between the chassis back plate and the magnetic top plate, allowing heated air from the voice coil and gap to be channeled away and dissipated by the chassis basket. This technology is the result of a meticulous 3D CAD design project.

The 8CX400F coaxial transducer is a 8 inch - 1 inch coaxial driver combining excellent linearity with good efficiency and power handling capabilities. It is primarily intended for compact reflex enclosures and, because of its versatile characteristics, may also be used in multiway systems or ceiling applications. Its nominal dispersion is 90 degrees. The curvilinear, paper LF section cone is formed using a unique wood pulp composition designed to achieve the best possible rigidity and stiffness. A polycotton multiroll surround to provide increased excursion whilst controlling break up modes carries it. The 51mm Ø state-of-the-art, aluminum wire voice coil employees same technology of that fitted to our top-of-the-range models using our Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) technology. In essence, a high strength Fiberglas former is used to carry windings on both the outer and inner surfaces to achieve a mass balanced coil. This results in an extremely linear motor assembly, which, in conjunction with the highly advanced design of the magnetic structure, provides a high force factor or BL. The high frequency driver incorporates a polyester material diaphragm for best movement and stress control; the special radial ribs increase stiffness avoiding uncontrolled vibration modes in the usable frequency range. An edge-wound copper clad aluminum voice coil wounded on treated Nomex completes the diaphragm assembly. A computer aided FEA has been used in order to maximize the cone profile coupling and to control the energy in the desired frequency range. A dedicated high quality passive crossover network is available upon request. With the increasing use of outdoor audio events, the ability to perform in humid environments is another feature of the 8CX400F. This is achieved by means of exclusively developed humidity repellent cone treatment.

The ND1030 1-inch exit high frequency compression driver has been designed for use in high quality two-way audio systems. The ND1030 exhibits a constant slope response from 1.5kHz to 18kHz with a uniform and smooth roll-off. With a 900Hz free air resonance frequency, the ND1030 can easily be cut-off at 1800Hz and is capable of 60W continuous power handling with a 1800Hz pink-noise signal, and a 6dB crest factor with a minimum 12dB/oct crossover slope. Equipped with unique Phase Plug architecture, the ND1030 has been designed to give a smooth coherent wavefront at the horn entrance in the whole working frequency range, as well as high level manufacturing consistency. The phase plug design with its short openings and high flare rate value assures low distortion and demonstrates remarkable improvements in mid-high frequency reproduction. The ND1030 titanium diaphragm assembly, with its ellipsoidal suspension shape, exhibits a constant slope response from 1kHz to 18kHz with uniform smooth roll-off behavior. An edge-wound aluminum voice coil, wound on proprietary treated Nomex, completes the diaphragm assembly. The 15NLW9400 ability to perform properly under inclement weather conditions has been achieved using a special coating applied to both the top and back plates.

The 15NLW9300 is a low frequency loudspeaker which sets a new industry standard in 15" (380mm) neodymium 4" voice coil high performance transducers. The design has evolved from an extensive R&D program carried out at Eighteen Sound, providing clean, undistorted LF reproduction at very high SPL without damages. The 15NLW9300 is intended mainly as woofer for studio monitoring or multiway systems applications in extremely compact vented enclosures (65-130lit). This make it ideal for touring application including indoor or outdoor concert reinforcement systems. Thanks to improved speaker design specifications and use of high grade materials it is the ideal transducer for touring applications or fixed installations. The neo magnet assembly assures high flux concentration, low power compression and excellent heat exchange, resulting in high levels of force factor and power handling with an optimum power to weight ratio. The heatsink has been specifically studied using F.E.A. simulators and the necessary heat transfer to the dissipative structure has been improved. The direct contact between the heatsink and the basket represents a fundamental improvement in heat dissipation, increasing power handling capabilities and lowering the power compression figure. The 15NLW9300 features a dedicated exclusive carbon fibre reinforced straight ribbed cone, with a specific pulp formulation containing damping fibres. The membrane is then treated in-house with a proprietary resin mix in order to increase the cone bend performances, up to 6 times better if compared with traditional celluloses pulp, twice than glass fibre added pulps. The results is a very linear piston action across the entire working range avoiding the destroying breaking modes. The cone treatment make the 15NLW9300 suitable for outdoor application.
