Dome tweeter Kartesian Twt30_vMS, 8 ohm, 110 mm

Dome tweeter Kartesian Twt30_vMS, 8 ohm, 110 mm

Twt30_vMS is a sublime 30mm soft dome with large surround, dedicated to uncompromising 2 ways systems. It covers the frequency range from 1,2kHz to 22kHz (+/-2dB) with an impressively flat frequency response, and very low THD rate. To get the best performances, we suggest to use it from 2kHz with 12dB/Oct high pass filter. Possibility of upgrading with the horn reference TWT30_HORN (sold separately).

This review is gonna be almost exactly the same as the one for the (TWT28) tweeter. Don't know exactly how to respond with this one, or its little brother (TWT28). The tweeter sounds awesome. Melts right into the system, matches levels good, responds to filters well, no pecularities, built solid, etc. However, it doesn't matter how good the driver is, even if God himself designed and built it; If the packaging sucks, it sucks! Loose drivers, especially domes will destroy themselves in the box before they even get to you. It appears the die-cuts/inserts that are suppose to hold the drivers in place are a shared design between some larger driver(s). They are two-piece circles that are suppose to be knocked out for a bigger driver if needed. Problem is the die-cuts are over cut and the circle doesn't stay in place. It falls out allowing the driver to come out and flop around freely. I have been extremely lucky and they do not appear to have any damage except for maybe a small scuff on one of the domes from one of those loose circle cut-outs. To temporarily fix them, place circle back into holes and put pieces of tape around both circles. That will hold them centered and keep them from impacting the walls. It's a shame they crisking their reputation over a few pennies. Their coned drivers aren't much better. They used to use foam/sponge rubber circles for spacers. Now it appears that all of drivers going to cardboard inserts only. Every coned driver since has arrived with the upper insert/spacer smashed. Don't know why their surrounds survive. Kartesian drivers do sound great though. I figure the package handlers are luckily keeping packages upright?
