    Most 15 inch loudspeakers suitable for bass-reflex loading are manufactured with the purpose of power PA-type use. This means providing a maximum level above 60 Hz (high impact) in a reduced volume. Unfortunately these loudspeakers are difficult to use for high fidelity systems when one seeks to cover the bass with flexibility and precision.

    The 5510MNdS was designed and oriented for powerful high fidelity. It uses PHL Audio technologies intended for professional applications. These technologies include natural coil cooling, an aluminum demodulation ring that greatly reduces distortion, a neodymium magnetic system with symmetrical BL(x) and Le(x) characteristics, a membrane treatment for optimal damping, a membrane with corrugations to increase rigidity, a suspension with "W" profile allowing a great linear elongation. The 5510MNdS is a 15 inch woofer providing coverage at 35 Hz @ -3 dB in a bass-reflex load of over 200 Liters. With its Xmax of +/-9 mm it is then possible to obtain a sustained bass level up to about 250 watts admissible (then the mechanical limit is reached), a robust amplifier is essential. The membrane is treated on the front face for optimal damping and protection against humidity, the treatment is not sticky to the touch. Ideally used up to 400 Hz maximum, the 5510MNdS is the ideal choice for bass in a durable high-flying 3-way combination.
