Let me start off by saying I have a big "soft spot" for Audax drivers. They don't particularly shine in any particular area at all. They don't dazzle you with great distortion or freq resp specs. Not really power houses. Not any more durable than the next guy. Heck they may even have some drivers that are surprisingly poor performers. But one thing you can NEVER take from them is their "sound". At least the "coated paper" and "Aerogel" drivers. Somehow with just simple x-overs and cheap wiring, amps, etc, they just perform with no complaints. They don't have any sibilance or other foul stuff. There are many drivers better sounding than them, but that "sound".

These particular drivers are a little bit of a disappointment for me though. Their bass sounds spot on and low enough and seem to meet the next driver just as good as my Seas's do. AWESOME sounding bass when they finally loosen up. Not particularly powerful like a sub, but have one-or-two of those kinda devices. Don't need any more of those police-summoning and headache devices.

What I DON'T need are cheaply made drivers that can literally bend in half just supporting its own weight and operation. The baskets are VERY thin. I literally rebent one basket web straight with the fingernail of my pinky finger. That flimsy, well should I dare going there, resonations, alignments, easily damaged, etc. I have no problem with steel/stamped baskets. Personally they make better structures than cast aluminum if you do something about the flat surfaces. But I swear annealed copper would be stronger than that tinfoil they used.
